Will we be people of faith??

5 Feb

The question will be posed to Ebenezer soon . . . Do we build?? Do we change?? I wonder if we will be willing to have faith. I have seen God’s hand in this process in so many ways . . . He has made His intention clear to me. I hope others will see it, too. All I can do is pray about it.

IF you are a fellow Ebenezerite, please join me in praying for our upcoming new facilities recommendation!!

The G-MEN!!!!!

4 Feb

I am not a bandwagon fan . . . But, in the Super Bowl, you MUST choose a team. And, as you will note from a previous blog, I DID choose the Giants. I wanted to see Eli do well and I am kind of tired of Bill Bellicheat.

The funny thing about this is I thought Green Bay was the only team that could beat New England. This just goes to show you that it ain’t over ’til its over . . .

The End of the Line

2 Feb

Last night at the funeral home was surreal. I have no idea how many people came through the line, but it was hundreds. HOWEVER, when you are at the END of the line (as my sister Elaine, Drew, and I were), you don’t really get to talk to too many people. TONS of people point at you and talk about you, but not too many actually make it that far to talk TO you. The line was LOOOOONG . . . I have a lot of cousins.

On the other hand, Ebenezer was well-represented in my opinion. One of the first people through the door was Dana (Rose) Lewis. She works just down the road from the funeral home at Greenville Memorial Hospital. It was great to see her! ALSO, the biggest flower in the place was from the EBC staff and church family . . . I rested under it’s shade. I loved it!

Today we get an early start out to my aunt’s house and then to the funeral. It will be a rough day for the entire family, but we will make it. There are many positives concerning the last few weeks AND concerning my grandmother’s life in general, the greatest of which is the fact that Jesus Christ IS her Savior and she is now with Him in paradise. And that is one of the only things holding it all together!!!

Thanks for the prayers! We are doing fine and God is good!

Heading to Greenville

1 Feb

Almost 13 years ago (in fact, it was two weeks before I graduated seminary and moved to EBC), I was called to Greenville from New Orleans and made a similar trip as to the one I will make today. My grandfather, Ben Hooper, passed away and our family gathered to do the things that families do in such times. I still miss him.

Tomorrow the events will once again end in the Graceland Cemetary at the same burial plot as we bury my grandmother. I appreciate all of the calls and contacts after her passing late Wednesday evening . . . I will write here the same things I have said to almost every person calling to check on me and my family: Keep praying! My grandmother was ready, both physically AND in her relationship with Christ. That does make it easier on me, but I know my mother and her four sisters and one brother really need prayer and support right now.

Many people have asked, “What can I do?” My answer is ALWAYS “pray for my mom.” Below you will find a link to my grandmother’s obit. I am disappointed they did not include her given middle name . . . “Narcisus.” And, I am NOT KIDDING about that one . . .
