Crossing over to the Dark side . . .

8 Jul

Yes, I did it . . . I caved to the pressure . . . EVERY time I go to a video symposium they laugh when they discover we do our video editing on Vegas on a PC. EVERY TIME. Then they ALL tell me when we are ready to really do the job, we will go Mac.

For a PC programmer from way back, going Mac IS crossing over to the dark side. But I fell. Kerry Floyd helped push me over the edge. We now have a Mac with Final Cut Express.

And it is AWESOME. Hooss and I have been experimenting and playing with it, and it is so easy to use. It really was a good move.

So, now do I have to change the color of my lightsabre???

Today’s funny from Mikey

8 Jul

There were two men shipwrecked on this island. The minute they got on to the island one of them started screaming and yelling, “We’re going to die! We’re going to die! There’s no food! No water! We’re going to die!”

The second man was propped up against a palm tree and acting so calmly it drove the first man crazy. “Don’t you understand?!? We’re going to die!!”

The second man replied, “You don’t understand, I make $100,000 a week.”The first man looked at him quite dumbfounded and asked, “What difference does that make?!? We’re on an island with no food and no water! We’re going to DIE!!!”

The second man answered, “You just don’t get it. I make $100,000 a week and I tithe ten percent on that $100,000 a week.

My pastor will find me!”

Did you hear about the Broadway actor who broke through the floor boards? He was just going through a stage.

Truthcasting

3 Jul

We are looking at a new home for our sermon webcasts . . . That is why timing has been so unusual lately. Truthcasting is a ministry related organization that, as you will see, majors on web-oriented communcation for churches and ministries. We might just give them a try.

Here is the link to our channel, and please remember it is under construction:

Eating the pepper

1 Jul

A couple of weeks ago at Willow, I happened upon the booth from Sermonspice.com . . . I found these folks a couple of years ago and have faithfully purchased video clips from them (those of you at Ebenezer have seen MANY, MANY movies from these guys) so I went over and thanked them for their good work. The dude behind the table said “You want a shirt?” I had no idea they were giving them away, but I said “Sure!” He said, “Well, you have to eat a pepper!”

Nix the shirt idea . . . I explained to him that I couldn’t do that, because I have raging acid reflux. His response was, “Well, do you have a YOUTH INTERN??” “Well, yes, a couple, but neither of them are here.”

“Well, bring them next time. You can make them do ANYTHING!!!”

Needless to say, I left the booth empty-handed. But I have already invited Michael to go next year! I WANT A SHIRT!

Number 500, and a special post at that

1 Jul

Yes, this is my 500th post with blogger.com. Ergo, it SHOULD be meaningful and significant. AND IT IS!!

Last night, WE BEAT SOUTH FLORENCE IN SOFTBALL!!!!!!! Yep, the score was 1-0, Carson pitched the first three, Krissy the last two. They had a couple of chances to score, but were SHUT DOWN. Krissy ended the game with a strikeout. Even though it was a scrimmage, we wanted to call the FloMoNews.

As we left the field, the SF coach was STILL chewing his girls out. He gets a little testy when they lose. I wonder if they had to run after everyone left . . . That is one of his favorite motivational methods.

Whirlwind Weekend

30 Jun

We went to Greenville this weekend. For several reasons. Diana’s birthday was Friday, so we celebrated with our families . . . Krissy toured Clemson on Friday, and that is ANOTHER blog entry altogether. We had a walking tour on campus that Diana could’ve easily given, except we would not have learned near as many details about the tour guide and HER life (She is Greek, she is going to Italy, she is a Marketing major, she is a Rally Cat, and Clemson is the BESTEST). Krissy also had a softball tourney in Simpsonville, so her grandparents all got to see her play. The dynamics of a travel-ball team are fascinating, but THAT is a blog for the anonymous blogger.

The weekend is over and we are back in Florence. yay!
