The Annual Meeting of the Florence Baptist Association was held yesterday. Business session at 4:30, worship at 7:oo. I had the honor of bringing the annual sermon (which I think I tanked, but that is another story). It was a great day . . . BUT.
It was a great day because we gathered together to see and hear what our baptist association is doing, not only around Florence but around the world. My guess is the average Ebenezerite has NO IDEA of all of the things in which our association is involved (because I a relatively connected and I did not realize all of the stuff we are doing.) It was eye-opening to see all of the things we are doing.
The real shame in all of the is that the average Ebenezerite will NEVER know without being there. I should say no more about this, because I am very disappointed. I made the mistake of not over-hyping it on Sunday morning because I did not want to seem like I was bragging about preaching. Okay, I goofed on that one. There were several ways and venues in which I announced it and talked about it. With pretty much no return on that investment.
On one hand, I will be the biggest cheerleader for it next year. And I wish it could be moved to Sunday evening for more church member participation. And on the other hand, I hope we all realize what a great gift we have in our baptist association. I learned a valuable lesson last night.
I just wish a few more had been there to learn it with me.
