So, how was YOUR weekend? Do anything interesting? I DID!!
On Saturday, I participated in TWO weddings. Within two and a half hours of each other. One at First Presbyterian and one at Ebenezer. Dustin and Ellen Fails were wed at First Presbyterian. I’ve known Dustin for the entire 15 years I’ve been at Ebenezer. It was quite a privilege to be part of that one. Billy and Margaret Early were wed at EBC, to a standing-room-only house. Margaret was at Clemson when we got to EBC, but she and her family have been great friends to us, so it was equally an honor.
I call this the double-header … I’ve never had to do two weddings in one day. Now, there was another minister in each wedding, so I didn’t have to do two complete weddings. But it was interesting just the same.
After the second wedding I came home, cooked out for the family, and watched the Tigers not hit the ball and lose to USC in the CWS. And, regardless of some of my Gamecock friends that have told me I am not allowed to do this, I have EVERY INTENTION of cheering for USC as they try to beat UCLA tonight.
And the cherry on top of all this: A BEAR WAS CAPTURED IN FLORENCE THIS WEEKEND!!! A BEAR! IN FLORENCE!! They apparently caught him at All-Star Lanes. And the sad thing was he was on track to bowl around 250 until they cuffed him and stuffed him! (They really DID catch him near the bowling alley.)
Hope your weekend was a good one!
Thanks for the update Pal-I went to NO weddings this weekend, I did not cheer for Clemson (though I would have had they defeated USC) and I did not catch a bear. What I did do was celebrate a 50 year marriage with dear friends in MB,SC and then endured SHREK with grandbabies. Blew my diet on popcorn and icees…life is good! Missed EBC but back now!
Wow, two weddings. A lot of people did get married this weekend around here, though. Congrats to all of them (esp. Dustin & Ellen since I know/work with Dustin) and best wishes :).
I don’t blame you for cheering for USC, and I think you’re allowed to do that. I don’t agree with the idea of cheering for some random team just because they’re playing your rival. If Clemson was there, I’d cheer for them too- we all have to have Palmetto State Pride for any of our teams that make it to national level championships :).

It’s alright David, not everyone can be a REAL South Carolina fan. The only way that game could have been any better is if we had come up through different brackets. It is what it is though my brother. At least we have a team that is representing the state of SC for a national title. All I have to say is that it’d be a pretty sad individual that wouldn’t pull for the home team in a Natl. Title Game. Got to admit however that I am much happier that it’s the team in garnet that’s vying for the tilte; GO ‘COCKS!!!!
Well, of course you are allowed to cheer for the Gamecocks…. just like a fair SC fan would cheer for Clemson if they were the ones playing topnight.
I have to cheer for USC, because I like to live in my house (joke), but Clemson represents us, too, whenever they win.
I spent the weekend at the beach, the last day and a half of our vacation. Drove home on Sunday afternoon, missed the rain. so it wasn’t too bad. Work was a bear today!
